Hi, Good Morning, Hoping you are well.

👀 What’s on the news today:

  • Dublin to implement citywide bin bag ban this month in effort to reduce litter

  • Coldplay performs "Crazy World" alongside Aslan at Croke Park.

Starting this month, Dublin city centre will implement a ban on bin bags as part of an effort to reduce litter caused by torn plastic refuse sacks scattered across the streets.

Since 2016, thousands of homes and businesses in the city have been exempt from using wheelie bins due to insufficient space for storing these waste containers.

Over the years, Dublin City Council has tested various alternatives to plastic bin bags to address the significant litter issue caused by bags being torn open by vermin, seagulls, foxes, and pets.

The problem has worsened, according to the council, due to the introduction of the deposit return scheme, which has led to people deliberately ripping open bags to retrieve bottles and cans for cash deposits at return machines.

The council has now decided that the city’s waste collection companies will determine the most suitable waste containers for their customers, but plastic bags will no longer be an option.

Fans at Croke Park received an unexpected treat when Coldplay invited Aslan to join them on stage during the third night of their gigs.

In a heartfelt tribute to the late singer Christy Dignam, who passed away in June last year after a lengthy battle with cancer, Chris Martin introduced Aslan to the crowd. Lee Tomkins, who became the band's new lead singer in February, joined them for the performance.

Together, the two bands delivered a special rendition of Aslan's iconic hit "Crazy World." Coldplay is now preparing for their fourth and final show at Croke Park on Monday night.

Have a great day today.

Thanks
